Official name: Silverstone Circuit
Location & opening: Near Silverstone village, Northamptonshire & Buckinghamshire, England — opened in 1948 with the first F1 hosted in 1950.
Length & turns: Grand Prix layout: 5.891 km (3.661 mi) with 18 in a clockwise direction.
Notable features: Extremely high average speeds with a strong emphasis on aerodynamic performance. The wide track allowing side-by-side racing but heavy tyre wear due to long, fast corners. One of the loudest and most passionate crowds in Formula 1 and the circuit is often windy because of its exposed airfield location
Capacity & grade: Seating capacity around 160,000; FIA Grade 1 capable (hosts major international events).
Lap record (F1): F1 lap record: 1:27.097 — Max Verstappen (Red Bull RB16) in 2020.

Silverstone began life as a Royal Air Force bomber station in 1943 during WWII.
Giuseppe Farina won that inaugural event in an Alfa Romeo and later became F1’s first world champion.
More than 60% of a lap is spent at full throttle in an F1 car.
